The Revista UniNorte de Medicina y Ciencias de la Salud builds editorial infrastructure aligned with international scholarly communication standards: persistent article identification, metadata interoperability, long-term digital preservation, and visibility for authors, institutions, and readers.

Our open-science commitment rests on identifiers and information systems that allow each published article to be discovered, cited, preserved, and reused. Metadata are distributed through protocols that support harvesting by catalogues, academic platforms, and preservation services.

This page states transparently where the journal is present today, what infrastructure supports it, and which indexes are part of the plan but not yet achieved. Absence from a selective index does not imply weak editorial standards; it usually reflects evaluation requirements, online track record, or admission calendars.

Persistent identification and quality metadata

The journal has online ISSN 3134-7835 and print ISSN 2415-0614. Each published article receives a DOI (Zenodo prefix 10.5281) with structured metadata, supporting citation, tracking, and interoperability.

The OJS platform integrates ORCID for unambiguous author identification. Metadata are exposed via OAI-PMH (https://revistas.uninorte.edu.py/index.php/medicina/oai) for automated harvesting.

Discovery and indexing — current status

Content is discoverable through standard protocols and academic discovery systems. Documented status (no unverified claims):

  • Latindex — Directory (record 29779). Catalogue 2.0: pending evaluation according to the public record
  • Google Scholar
  • OpenAIRE (and related open-repository dissemination)
  • Zenodo / DOI archive 10.5281 (and linked channels in that ecosystem)

This infrastructure makes articles visible and retrievable in directories and search engines. It does not by itself mean inclusion in every selective citation index; those aims appear in the plan below.

Open science and digital preservation

The journal follows open-science principles and transparent access and reuse policies:

  • Diamond open access (no APCs) under a CC BY 4.0 licence
  • Articles on this platform are published in PDF and EPUB, with DOI and deposit in Zenodo
  • Interoperability aligned with OpenAIRE
  • OJS enables distributed preservation via LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, and PKP PN, in addition to Zenodo DOI archiving (full policy under About the Journal)

Barrier-free open access

Publication is free for authors and readers: there are no submission or article processing charges. The CC BY 4.0 licence allows reading, distribution, reuse, and adaptation with appropriate attribution.

International outlook and indexing plan

The journal—published since 2012 and exclusively online with DOIs since 2020 (OJS archive from Vol. 9)—continues to strengthen its place in the global scholarly information ecosystem. The plan below is the seal’s shared roadmap, adapted to UniNorte’s starting point.

  • Complete / update the Latindex record (both faculties as responsible bodies; CC BY 4.0 licence; online ISSN) and progress on Latindex Catalogue 2.0
