Prevalencia de enfermedades crónicas en adultos del asentamiento Virgen de Fátima

Resumen

Introducción: Las enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles constituyen la principal causa de muerte y discapacidad en el mundo, y afectan de manera desproporcionada a las poblaciones de asentamientos urbanos precarios. El objetivo fue determinar la prevalencia de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles en adultos del asentamiento Virgen de Fátima, en Ciudad del Este, entre enero y julio de 2022.

Materiales y métodos: Estudio observacional, descriptivo, transversal y cuantitativo. Planilla de registro a partir de historias clínicas de adultos atendidos en el dispensario médico municipal del asentamiento.

Resultados: Se identificaron 98 adultos con enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles. La diabetes mellitus fue la más prevalente (50 %), seguida de hipertensión arterial (38 %); un 9 % adicional presentó ambas. La diabetes predominó en varones (28 % vs 22 % en mujeres) y la hipertensión en mujeres (21 % vs 17 %); la combinación fue más frecuente en mujeres (7 % vs 2 %). Grupo etario más frecuente: 50–59 años. Solo el 46 % mantenía tratamiento continuo.

Conclusiones: Prevalencia elevada de diabetes e hipertensión, con proporción relevante de ambas simultáneas y mayoría sin tratamiento continuo. Se respalda fortalecer detección temprana y seguimiento en esta comunidad.
