Resumen

El sistema estomatognático es ampliamente estudiado en el sistema tónico postural, es relacionada con la columna lumbar y otros segmentos del cuerpo. Sin embargo, la cabeza adelantada es un factor clave para entender la respuesta del cuerpo y el feedback de la autorregulación del movimiento. Los adultos mayores presentan un deterioro progresivo de su funcionalidad en la cual la posición cabeza juega un rol importante

Objetivo: Analizar las bases neurocientíficas entre el Sistema Estomatognático y la posición de la cabeza en el adulto mayor

Material y métodos: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica actualizada, se empleó la estrategia de búsqueda avanzada y para la selección de los artículos realizada en bases de datos como Pubmed, ResearchGate, SciELO, utilizando términos como: “cabeza adelantada”,”adultos mayores”, “sistema estomatognático”, “control motor”, “biotensegridad”, “postura”, durante los meses de agosto y setiembre del 2021. Se incluyó artículos científicos cuyos criterios de inclusión a cumplir consistían en: estudios publicados entre los años 2017 y 2021. La búsqueda inicial arrojó 1052 artículos de los cuales no se tuvieron en cuenta 941

Resultados: Se encontró literatura científica que aborda sobre las bases neurocientíficas del sistema estomatognático y la cabeza adelantada con respecto a la postura, la biomecánica entre el sistema estomatognático con otras estructuras, relación propioceptiva del sistema estomatognático con la cabeza y los principios de biotensegridad en la cabeza adelantada

Conclusiones: La mayoría de las investigaciones brindaron informaciones sólidas sobre la cabeza adelantada y alteración del sistema sensoriomotor. La mayoría de los adultos mayores tenían déficit en la mineralización ósea, respuestas en el sistema respiratorio tanto en el proceso gaseoso como en la mecánica respiratoria, el sistema vestibular y los músculos masticatorios, como el masetero, el digástrico que se ven afectadas por la posición de la cabeza adelantada, y finalmente información sobre conceptos de Biotensegridad. Los adultos mayores con dentaduras postizas fueron la población más afectada. Sin embargo, la mayoría de las informaciones procesadas no tienen explicación concreta entre el sistema estomatognático y la cabeza. Por lo tanto, la revisión favorece respectivamente que las bases neurológicas del sistema estomatognático y la cabeza adelantada son influidas por los estímulos externos y representan un vínculo propioceptivo importante en el cuerpo humano
