La ética profesional en Medicina: fundamentos, amenazas y formación basada en evidencia

Resumen

Introducción: El profesionalismo médico constituye la base del contrato social entre la medicina y la sociedad, porque vincula competencia técnica, integridad moral, responsabilidad pública y priorización del bienestar del paciente. Desarrollo: La evidencia reciente muestra que el profesionalismo puede analizarse como una competencia observable y evaluable, pero también como una práctica vulnerable a amenazas contemporáneas, entre ellas el burnout, los conflictos de interés, la fragmentación del cuidado, la presión organizacional y las tensiones éticas propias de la atención digital y del final de la vida. Implicancias: Estos hallazgos sostienen la necesidad de fortalecer una formación longitudinal, reflexiva e institucionalmente respaldada, con mentoría, evaluación programática y ambientes clínicos coherentes con los valores que se buscan enseñar.

Conclusiones: En la educación médica y en la práctica clínica, el profesionalismo debe abordarse como una capacidad dinámica que requiere vigilancia, modelado explícito y políticas formativas que permitan sostener la confianza pública y la calidad de la atención.
