Introduction: Kinesiological assessment in trauma requires mastery of scales, orthopedic tests and examination materials that allow a precise kinesiological diagnosis and treatment planning. The aim was to determine knowledge of kinesiological trauma assessment among third-year Physiotherapy and Kinesiology students at Universidad del Norte during 2023.
Materials and methods: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional quantitative study. An online voluntary anonymous questionnaire was administered to 35 third-year students.
Results: Daniel's scale was known by 100%; Barthel index 62.9%; Tinetti 34.3%. Tests: anterior drawer of the knee 91.4%, posterior drawer 82.9%, Adams 71.4%, Lachman 68.6%. Main theoretical support: books/materials from teachers (77.1%). Radiographs 65.7%; goniometer 80%. Moderate confidence when assessing: 51.4%. Most (57.1%) considered assessment should occur at the start, during and at the end. Strength: practical classes (74.3%); weakness: lack of clinical practice (80%).
Conclusions: Broad knowledge of scales and tests, with predominantly moderate confidence. Strengthening supervised clinical practice is supported.
