Capacidad de agencia de autocuidado en pacientes del Servicio de Rehabilitación de la Universidad del Norte

Introducción: La agencia de autocuidado —la capacidad de una persona para evaluar continuamente sus necesidades de salud y participar en actividades de autocuidado destinadas a promover y mantener su bienestar— es un componente central de la teoría de Dorothea Orem, con relevancia directa para la rehabilitación. El objetivo fue analizar la capacidad de agencia de autocuidado en pacientes del servicio de Rehabilitación de la Universidad del Norte, Asunción, durante 2023.
Materiales y métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, no experimental, de campo y descriptivo. Muestra de 38 pacientes. Escala de Apreciación de Agencia de Autocuidado (ASA), versión validada para población colombiana (5 dimensiones, 24 ítems).
Resultados: Edad media 42,9 años; sexo femenino 55 %; nacionalidad paraguaya 95 %; solteros 63 %; trabajadores 37 %; formación universitaria 55 %. Agencia de autocuidado global: alto 74 %, medio 16 %, bajo 11 %. Por dimensiones: alto en interacción social (74 %), bienestar personal (97 %), actividad y reposo (68 %) y promoción del funcionamiento (100 %); consumo de alimentos predominantemente moderado (74 %).
Conclusiones: Capacidad de agencia de autocuidado mayoritariamente alta, seguida de moderada, con menor desempeño relativo en consumo de alimentos dentro de un perfil global favorable.
