Perfil funcional de pacientes con cuidados paliativos en la Fundación San Rafael

Introducción: Los cuidados paliativos se orientan a mejorar la calidad de vida de pacientes con enfermedades graves o terminales mediante el alivio del dolor y otros síntomas, así como el apoyo integral al paciente y su familia. El objetivo fue analizar el perfil funcional de los pacientes con cuidados paliativos de la Fundación San Rafael durante 2023.
Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, no experimental, prospectivo, transversal y cuantitativo. Se evaluó a 11 pacientes con el Índice de Katz, la Escala de Karnofsky y la Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS).
Resultados: Sexo femenino 6, masculino 5; edad media 65,3 años (DE 22,3); diagnóstico no oncológico 8, oncológico 3. Katz: dependencia predominante en sanitario, movilidad y continencia (10/11 cada una) y vestido (9/11); alimentación 6/11 dependientes. Karnofsky 40 en 81,8 %. ESAS: síntomas más prevalentes dolor y agotamiento, seguidos de ansiedad y malestar general.
Conclusiones: Funcionalidad baja con dependencia en la mayoría de las actividades básicas y perfil sintomático dominado por dolor y agotamiento; se respalda la intervención fisioterapéutica en etapas avanzadas.
